Bounce Rate
Bounce Rate — Bounce rate is the percentage of visitors who leave a website after viewing only one page, without interacting further or navigating to another page.
What is Bounce Rate?
Bounce rate measures the percentage of visitors who land on a page and leave without taking any further action — no clicks, no scrolling, no form submissions. In Google Analytics 4, bounce rate is the inverse of engagement rate.
What is a Good Bounce Rate?
- Blog posts: 65-90% (users often find their answer and leave)
- Landing pages: 60-90% (depends on campaign type)
- Service pages: 30-50% (users should explore further)
- E-commerce: 20-45% (users should browse products)
How to Reduce Bounce Rate
- Improve page load speed (every second matters)
- Match content to search intent
- Use clear navigation and internal links
- Add compelling CTAs above the fold
- Optimize for mobile devices
- Improve content readability with headings and short paragraphs
